    Current Events-Siva Shantha Mother & Child Health centre
    Shivashanta Mother & Child Health Centre is getting upgraded into a Mother and Child Health centre to full fill the dream of our Guru, His Holiness Swami Shantanand Saraswati.
    "3 Months to 3 Years", as He called it, the plan is giving comprehensive care to the expectant mother from 3 months of conception until her child reaches 3 years of age. This project includes antenatal care, health education and postnatal care for the mother, and immunization and vital care for the child from the time of birth until the child completes 3 years.
    The building has been almost completed by the goodwill of many devotees of Swami Shantanandji and many other well-wishers. It  was inaugurated on July 27th 2010, on the 5th Mahasamadhi day of Swamiji. The pending work is being done and shortly the hospital will be ready to offer inpatient care. To complete the work , sustain and to carry on our service we need the continued support from all of you.

    Inauguration of the II Floor at Sivashantha Mother and Child Health Centre
    The second floor of Sivashantha Mother And Child Heallth centre was inaugurated on 9th September 2011, on the occasion of Swami Sivananda’s birthday. The floor is fully furnished and has a spacious Gyneac ward with 7 beds, a Paediatric ward with 4 beds, an ICU with 4 beds and two special rooms. We also inaugurated the fully equipped medical gas unit.
    Mathaji Vithamma, who has contributed the total expenses for the II floor through her Muthukrishna Swami Mission Trust, cut the ribbon and formally declared the floor open.
    The second floor is also done on a beautiful colour theme and is a feast for the eyes. The lovely environment, the fresh air and sunlight and most of all the presence of all the saints will do most of the healing for the inpatients. Swamiji has always blessed us with The Best and so is this too. In His own words, “This is a hospital for the poor and not a poor hospital”. Yes this is a place where the poor gets the royal treatment.
    Inauguration of the II Floor
    Paediatric Health Check up
    To commence the Aradhana Celebrations of our Swamiji, a mega paediatric health check up was
    organized at Siva Shantha Mother and Child Health centre on 24-07-2011. The check up was
    multispeciality and it was departmentalized to cover all the areas. Thee systematic check up went on as
    follows
    1. Height and weight measurements, for growth assessment
    2. The immunization history of each child was scrutinized to find out if there was any lapse and in that case an appointment was given, to come to the centre on the regular immunization days of the Centre (Wednesdays and Saturdays)
    3. Examination for speech difficulties
    4. General examination to rule out anaemia
    5. Systemic examination for any major illness
    6. Paediatric eye check up
    7. ENT Examination
    8. Orthopedic check up
    9. Dental check up. The children and the accompanying parents or care takers were given a short presentation on dental health and maintenance of dental hygiene. A free gift of a tooth paste and brush was distributed to inspire and put them on the habit of regular brushing.
    10. The medicines prescribed were distributed at the pharmacy
    11. A glass of milk was given to each child.
    12. Every child was given a gift pack with biscuits, pencils, erasers and crayons.
    13. The doctors made a note of their impression on further treatment for cases necessary, on the OP file, for the centre to follow up.

    The Arvind eye Hospital and Dr Vijayalakshmi have agreed to offer free treatment for children who need further assistance.
    A team of volunteers from Chinmaya Mission International School helped around along with the regular volunteers of Shivanjali. About 200 children around the Vadavalli area attended and benefitted by this Health check up.

    A Blood Donation Camp was held on 26th July 2011 at the centre and 34 units of blood was donated.

    Paediatric Health Check up
    Free Dental Camp 29-04-2011
    A dental camp was conducted at the Siva Shantha Mother and Child Health Centre by the doctors of Sri Ramakrishna Dental College on 29th April 2011.
    There was tremendous response and about 150 patients were screened. The team had brought a mobile dental unit and extractions and cleaning the teeth were done for cases, where necessary. Both men and women and also children made use of the opportunity.
    All the patients were given a registration slip, where the findings and the next treatment was recorded and they would get a concession on the fees when they go to Sri Ramakrishna Dental College Hospital
