STUDY IN MALAYSIA FOR THEATRE AND DRAMA
The new Theatre and Drama major at Murdoch, available from 2011, offers students the excitement of studying a unit offshore. Our collaboration with the Temple of Fine Arts , in Perth , Malaysia and Singapore will allow students enrolled in EGL213 Children's Theatre to consider the option of studying the unit abroad during the Summer Trimester, beginning, in 2011.
The Temple of Fine Arts has made its superb facilities in Kuala Lumpur available to Murdoch students and staff for this initiative. Students, directed by Murdoch Theatre and Drama staff, will develop a theatre in education production and show-case the outcome with a public performance in the Temple of Fine Arts ’ new Shantanand Auditorium. Anyone with an interest in theatre for young people or intercultural performance should find this option appealing.
    Description:
What are the requirements for a successful the atrical performance when the audience comprises children in the primary school? This production-based unit answers this question theoretically and practically and offers students a range of workshop opportunities through which to develop their skills, whether as actors, designers, stage-managers, set-builders, musicians or lighting and
    sound technicians.
    Aim:
To develop an ensemble of skilled theatre practitioners whose learning processes result in the public performance of an original script for an audience of young people.
